My spiritual experience of sailing during Lent during my Jesus year birthday of 33 and all the important lessons and experience I have been lucky to have as a result.
Aborted our Sail out of Cabo
Mark has never done it and neither of us is the type, but either the people we have met in Cabo are pulling major magic or we forgot to weigh anchor because we left Cabo San Lucas and then came right back. It was 12 hours of being on a stationary bike at sea: lots of peddling but we weren't going anywhere.
Cabo's Social Climbers, Us!
Wherever we go on this trip, Mark Harrison and I seem to be taken underwing. In this case, we were allowed to become Cabo San Lucas socialites for a day: High tea and fashion show; fashion show, and then an evening espresso. Top drawer!
Los Cabos
We limped into this cheesy tourist trap which does first-world better than the United States. What we discovered was an amazing assortment of magic and beautiful, selfless people.
Mark & Chris in Zihuat, MX
This is the only known image of Mark Harrison without his red Victorian romantic hair, and also me -- and I have no hair because I want to be like Mark.
Travelling to Cabo San Lucas
Its all the best and the worse of everything you could imagine from one of the top holiday, winter, and spring break destinations on the planet for Americans on the west coast and in the bread basket.
Still Sailing Mexico's Pacific
20-days into the Sail and we have only gone from Acapulco to Zihuatenejo to Las Hadas, Manzanillo. Many more miles to go. From Club de Yates de Acapulco to Rick's Bar to Dolphin rapists to gorgeous Las Hadas, oh my.
Hola de Montezuma
I was fine for the first couple of days, but the sun, the heat, and a bottle of green water put me down for a metric day. Luckily, I am back in the saddle again.
Acapulco
I am now in Acapulco and excited by the sail from here to Los Angeles. I am not sure when we will be leaving for the sail, but Acapulco easily earns its reputation as paradise.
Americans' Continued Purchases of SUVs Really Is a Problem by Mark Harrison
Oil purchases are essentially the only form of financial support the simplistic economies of the despotic Middle Eastern countries have. It's not like the Saudis and Saddam are making a killing off of their fashion industries and brilliant management consulting firms. SUV's and light trucks are all so fuel inefficient that their mere existance on our roads guarantees our continued dependence on Arab Oil.
The U.N. Took Powell's Lunch Money
I so enjoy the pomp and circumstances of United Nations gatherings. This time, His Excellency Secretary of State Colin L. Powell was outgunned, if you will. Although his argument was compelling and I believe him, the opacity of the current Administration disallowed a successful debate.
How I Found Father Downing and Saint James' Capitol Hill
Several years ago my ex Michelle and I were at Doolittle's with our dog Suzi. There was a flyer for an animal blessing on Saint Francis' Day. There would be two blessings, one at Stanton Park and one at Lincoln Park. Although Michelle and I were not church-going folks, we didn't want to short change our beloved pet; besides, Michelle and Suzi were both from San Francisco.
I've been seeing bioluminescence most nights since the end of November

Creative Writing Teacher
Back in 1997 and 1998 I was a creative writing instructor for a seminal on-line creative writing program. This program was a highschool magnet program for the Kalamazoo, MI, public schools.
Mark's Story Sailing Kinship II Blind
Missing from Mark as he sailed from Charleston, SC, to Marina Del Mar, Los Angeles, CA
My Puppy Suzi, My Ex Michelle, and a Doggie Neurologist, Part 2
While I was eating a Subway hoagie and watching the first season of the Sopranos on Teddy & Michelle's DVD system, I noticed that Suzi was in fact acting very oddly.
My Puppy Suzi, My Ex Michelle, and a Doggie Neurologist, Part 1
I share my gorgeous dog Suzi with her mom, Michelle. Over the last month or so, Suzi has had a head bob. I have been in denial that it was age-related. She has started to fall; her health is beginning to fail.

This image was made via the internet as Kinship II, captained by Mark Harrison.
Are Children Allowed to be Kids Anymore?
When I was a kid my parents were at work and I guess I was a latch-key kid. I took the public bus hither and thither. My mom was not too concerned. My friends and I rode our bikes or took the bus to the harbor where we would go fishing. The city was open and available to us.

Email from Mark Harrison from Panama
I'm in Panama, on the east side and should be transiting in the next day or two. Things are probably being held up by the holidays. I don't know if you got my last message as I sailed off of Key West, but here's the general gist:
Adaptation Movie Review
In this film, Charlie Kaufman is his twin, is John Laroche, the Ghost Orchid, and the drug itself.
The Use of SMS for Texting and US Cell Phones
The United States might be one of the most wired countries in the world, but in a post modern world, the coolest countries have gone wireless. As a result, we don't want to be part of the mobile phone left-behind.
Bad Carma
Today, I locked my keys in Mark's POSi. Last night, Wendy had her Escort towed. I think its not about a bad biorhythm, its bad Carma.
Save HR-57 For the Love of Washington Jazz!
Firstly, become a member. Secondly, I guess its time for me to let go of Washington's best secret, which is a Greenwich Village-during-the-fifties-quality source for amazing pick-up jazz -- and its here in the district!
How long have you been taking pictures?
I started taking pictures seriously as my dad's shadow at around 9 or 10. As of 2002, that makes my career as a photographer 23-years-old.
42-Minute-Run in 24-Degree-Weather
I didn't get to the gym tonight. I went last night. Instead of resting, I felt like a lump so at around 11:30pm I put on my running togs, pulled on a watch cap, stuck my MiniDisc player into one sock, my keys in another, stuck them onto my hands, and hit the road.

Since the rentals of the fine singles down at the Thompsons boat center is discontinued for the season, I am now spending a heck of a lot of time at the WSC.
