When Anne Haas and Jen Tucker post a recipe, I jot it down. I love pesto, though I don't think I've ever had an arugula and walnut variant.
Planning for 20 more erging days left in the Concept2 Fall Team Challenge
Between now and midnight, October 15, I have 20 full days to row at least 200,000 meters. So far, I've rowed 59,508 meters and have 140,492 meters left to go.
Tuesday Fall Team Challenge Update
I didn't get as many meters as I wanted tonight primarily because of technical failures. I moved from POLAR H7 back to an old school Garmin ANT+ strap and disabled my USB thumb drive on my PM5 and then needed to swap out a dying Apple iPhone 5 and set up my Samsung S8 Active to work with the ErgData app.
10 best and 10 worst places to raise a family in the Unites States of America
Neither Arlington, Virginia, my home, nor Washington, DC, made either of these lists. That said, I'm pretty damn single.
Sunday Fall Team Challenge Update
I spent parts of all day rowing along a little bit at a time but I added 11,289 meters to the 39,946 meters I had accrued. So, according to my lovely Concept2 Logbook's 2018 Fall Team Challenge page, I'm up to 51,235 meters total--that means I am 25.6175% of the way to my goal of 200,000 meters, 200kms, or 124.27 miles.
I'm running for two hours on October 7 for the #GRGR18
I didn't sign up for any races this year. They're expensive and what I really need to do is run, Forrest, run!
Fall Team Challenge Saturday Update
I had another sinus headache from just not staying hydrated enough overnight again so I didn't really start rowing until late--almost 8 PM. Then, I only got in 7,733 meters.
Fall Team Challenge Update
Since September the 15th, I have rowed 32,213 meters towards the 200,000 meters I want to complete by October the 15th for the Fall Team Challenge that Concept2 hosts every year. Here are the last couple of days since my last report.
I ordered my next pair of running shoes Nike Zoom Fly SP
I have really enjoyed running in Nike Pegasus running shoes again. Nike intrigues me. I used to love the Pegasus shoe because it was perfectly balanced at cheap-but-good, always hovering around $80 new.
I just need to average 7,143 meters-per-day for 26-more-days
I didn't get started for a couple days--mea culpa--but I have pledged to row at least 2km after every article I write. I had wanted to swing the kettlebell between articles; however, I need to average 7,143 meters-per-day for the 28-days I have to make my 200km before midnight on the 15h of October.
Join the Fall Team Challenge by September 30
We're only a few days into the 2018 Concept2 Fall Team Challenge and I've only contributed 9,899 meters to the Potomac Boat Club team of the 200,000 meters I want to row between now and October 15.
Business Hacks You Need To Know
When it comes to building a successful empire you can be proud of, here are some of the things you will want to make sure that you do.
Why Consistency is Key to Successful Marketing
Marketing is a pretty nuanced business. Your aim is to subtly but very effectively push the consumer towards your products or services when they (usually) have a whole bunch of options available to them.
My giant peppermill
The audacity of putting a gianormous screw top pepper grinder on top of and included with my peppercorn refill changed my life and I'll never go back. No more peppermills for me, it's storming ground pepper baby. I'm calling her Florence!
8,011 meters in four easy pieces
I checked out of work a little early this afternoon and got some rowing on my Concep2 Indoor Rower, my trusty old Model C with the PM5 monitor upgrade.
My memories of 9/11
The entire world came together to love and support us after the terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001.
I'm my own worst enemy
Every day is a series of successes, failures, excuses, being a weather wimp (which doesn't work because I have an erg), and blaming a launch sprint crunch. It's all bullshit.
Aragon Could Be the Future of Business Administration
At 3PM GMT on May 17th 2017, Luis Cuende & Jorge Izquierdo launched a token sale to raise money for their Ethereum-based blockchain technology that would disintermediate the processes associated with running a corporation using a framework known as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). By 3:15PM GMT, the token sale was over and they has raised $25 million for Aragon Foundation, parent organization of the Aragon Core platform and the Aragon Network (AN). It takes a lot of star power to sell out of anything in 15-minutes.
B2B Branding Strategies That Will Win Over Big Clients
Creating a winning brand is difficult for any kind of business, but it’s particularly difficult when you’re dealing with big clients.
Running: Sun, 2 Sep 2018 19:50:49
Day two of two in a row. Hopefully I can keep up a daily run of at least 2 miles a day. I'd prefer it to be 4/day but I didn't sleep well at all last night so I'm being gentle.
My sun bleached orange kit bag
I left my safety orange Hill People Gear original kit bag in the window in the sun and now it looks like I've done some serious tie-dye job on it.
Running: Sat, 1 Sep 2018 17:13:56: first flight with my new to me eBay-find ANT+ only Garmin Forerunner 910xt
I'm taking my very first flight with my new to me eBay-find ANT+ only Garmin Forerunner 910xt. Got it a week ago but this is my first time out on the road.
I've started a very little weight lifting habit I will build upon
Now that my pad’s a weight room, I need to keep my forward momentum. I worked out using a combination of TRX, bench with kettlebells, and a 37-pound resistance band, doing a mixture of presses, rows, fallouts, pullovers, tricep extensions, dips, kettlebell bench presses, and close grip presses.
My pad's a weight room
A plumber came by my pad to fix my tub and he told me that I live in a prison weight room. Okay, he didn't say "prison" but it was all in the tone. It's true.
Why men shouldn't stop running
For those of us who aren't naturally as smooth as a dolphin or who aren't religious about their waxing or manscaping, it takes a couple days of running for all the hair in your running shorts to be brutally torn out by the roots; after which, it's all smooth sailing.
Running: Thu, 23 Aug 2018 20:13:19: I realized that I run like a snowshoer without snow or snowshoes!
I realized that I run like a snowshoer without snow or snowshoes! Made 4 miles again! Very lovely, show, cool, meander, all the way to Shirlington and along 4 Mile Run, then to Walter Reed.
I'm a true-blue South Arlington runner
I just did a Strava heatmap and the results are in: I'm a true-blue South Arlington runner.
Running: Mon, 13 Aug 2018 21:16:16: Made it to four miles!
Made it to four miles! Made it to four miles! So slow but very nice and amusing and refreshing.
I've always been a slow runner
Sometimes I feel like I was much quicker in my 20s and 30s. Well, I wasn't.
Running update
Okay, I've completed nine runs in the last sixteen days. Up until now, I feel like it's all been shaking down my body, making sure everything works right.
