I just quit the gym. I am addicted to running. Running takes a long time, so I can only do one or the other, and the Washington Sports Club loses this battle. There is nothing like running, to be sure.

Bahía Tortuga
Mark and I sailed Kinship II from Cabo – the last place from which I reported – to a small fishing village named Bahía Tortuga, or Turtle Bay. Turtle Bay was a reluctant stop. We wanted to come in, fuel up, and then head out. Charlie’s Charts recommended Jorge, and he was the first person to zip up the Kinship in his outboard.

Aborted our Sail out of Cabo
Mark has never done it and neither of us is the type, but either the people we have met in Cabo are pulling major magic or we forgot to weigh anchor because we left Cabo San Lucas and then came right back. It was 12 hours of being on a stationary bike at sea: lots of peddling but we weren't going anywhere.

I am now in Acapulco and excited by the sail from here to Los Angeles. I am not sure when we will be leaving for the sail, but Acapulco easily earns its reputation as paradise.

Oil purchases are essentially the only form of financial support the simplistic economies of the despotic Middle Eastern countries have. It's not like the Saudis and Saddam are making a killing off of their fashion industries and brilliant management consulting firms. SUV's and light trucks are all so fuel inefficient that their mere existance on our roads guarantees our continued dependence on Arab Oil.

I so enjoy the pomp and circumstances of United Nations gatherings. This time, His Excellency Secretary of State Colin L. Powell was outgunned, if you will. Although his argument was compelling and I believe him, the opacity of the current Administration disallowed a successful debate.

Several years ago my ex Michelle and I were at Doolittle's with our dog Suzi. There was a flyer for an animal blessing on Saint Francis' Day. There would be two blessings, one at Stanton Park and one at Lincoln Park. Are Children Allowed to be Kids Anymore?
When I was a kid my parents were at work and I guess I was a latch-key kid. I took the public bus hither and thither. My mom was not too concerned. My friends and I rode our bikes or took the bus to the harbor where we would go fishing. The city was open and available to us.
