Slow Jogging

First Slow Jog in Years
I’m finally up to speed to actually start my slow jogging. I had only been walking until now. Just making sure I was fit enough and ready.
Here are my favorite quotes from Slow Jogging: Lose Weight, Stay Healthy, and Have Fun with Science-Based, Natural Running by Hiroaki Tanaka
When I read Slow Jogging, Lose Weight, Stay Healthy, and Have Fun with Science-Based, Natural Running by Hiroaki Tanaka, there were some amazing quotes that I wrote down. Here are my favorites. How about you?
I've been doing the Cliff Young Ultra Shuffle
I just discovered Cliffy Young via Amazon Video today. At 61, he ran 500 miles from Sydney to Melbourne, Australia.
My first run since I was sick in January 2017!
I took the first run of the rest of my life after being sick back in January 2017 this morning. Call my form Japanese Slow Jogging or Zombie Shuffle--the Cliff Young Ultra Shuffle?--but this is where it starts.
My new year's resolutions
Happy new year everyone! It’s 2018 and I am actually putting together a list of my own personal new year’s resolutions: slow jog, slow row, kick box, bell-swing, push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and, finally, some weight-training.
Running: Fri, 27 Jul 2018 20:11:23: Really smooth and cool and easy
Really smooth and cool and easy. Walked hills and took rights and lefts at as many hills as I could but it was a fun time!
Running: Thu, 4 Aug 2018 18:40:21
Well, this was only .70 miles longer than regular but it was much more scenic. The dorky hat I'm wearing is a heart rate sensor. So worth being a dork.
Slow Jogging and MAF Training are sibling training strategies
Slow Jogging is a form of exercise slower than jogging, and perhaps slower than the average walking speed.
Some great books for slow jogging, slow running, and heart rate aerobic training
While it all started with my discovery of Slow Jogging by Hiroaki Tanaka, it's expanded to Slow Running by Chris Bore and The Maffetone Method by Dr. Philip Maffetone. And, of course, there is also the incredibly-useful book, Row Daily, Breathe Deeper, Live Better, by Dustin Ordway, which also suggests consistent, persistent, daily exercise with a twist: there's no such thing as too slow as long as you do it every day.
Sweet running loops from the PBC boathouse
When I worked at New Media Strategies back from 2002-2006, belonged to a gym in the building in Rosslyn and would pop out at night for a loop run in the evening.
Why men shouldn't stop running
For those of us who aren't naturally as smooth as a dolphin or who aren't religious about their waxing or manscaping, it takes a couple days of running for all the hair in your running shorts to be brutally torn out by the roots; after which, it's all smooth sailing.
