A Free Weekly 5K and a Welcoming Community
Getting a weekly, free, fun, non-judgemental, 5k, for free, is a Unicorn in the DMV. Here's the news straight from TRI Parkrun HQ:
Dear Chris, What a milestone for our entire parkrun this week - August 27th marks the Theodore Roosevelt Island DC parkrun's SEVENTH BIRTHDAY! Since its inception in 2016, this event has seen more than its fair share of tourists, first timers, second timers, volunteers, barkrunners, and more. We are excited to see what the next seven years have in store! To kick them off with a bang, we would like to invite participants to wear any parkrun-themed swag (milestone shirts, classic parkrun black or apricot apparel, or any other imaginative interpretation of the concept) and we'll take a group photo by the monument. There may even be snacks... [...] After the run we will meet for coffee in Rosslyn, near the Metro station. Details will be announced at the briefing on event day (if it's warm, we'll be outside on the Metro plaza; if it's cold and/or raining, we will be at Assembly, above the Metro at 1700 N Moore St.). The Roosevelt Island parking lot often fills up before 8:30am on parkrun mornings regardless of season or weather. If you are driving, we recommend arriving early or considering pay parking in Rosslyn - and walking/biking/transit is always encouraged!
Please come join Roosevelt Island Parkrun this weekend and any Saturday, any time in the future!
