Today's a very solemn day. Ground zero of not only the most massive attack on America but also ground zero of a series of endless wars and loss of life that have spanned one-and-a-half decades of my life.

My go-to is a nice bowl of lentils and either tomato pilchards or sardines in olive oil
I don't think you can go wrong consuming mass quantities of tinned fish and cooked-up dried lentils, fresh in a bowl, seasoned with salt, pepper, hot sauce, paprika, and cayenne? It would be my everyday meal for the rest of my life. It's so simple and healthy and you can add whatever garnish you want. Vegetables, herbs, avocado, or just simply the two together.

Starting a one big-ass salad-a-day (OBASAD) diet for the rest of July
Instead of just going for a general One-Meal-a-Day (OMAD) or an OBAD (One Burrito-a-Day) diet, I am going to commit to a one big-ass salad-a-day (OBASAD) died for the rest of the month of July, 2022. Today's the 3rd, so it'll not be a full month, but I'll commit completely.

The Nihilism of Don't Look Up on Netflix
I guess abject hopelessness and the limits of human nature and trust can be a laugh riot.

On contradicting my Marine dad's sage health advice
My dad's advice was "if you don't need to run, walk; if you don't need to walk, stand; if you don't need to stand, sit; if you don't need to sit, lie down." I am embracing the diametrically opposite.

Getting excited for the Concept2 Virtual Team Challenge on the PBC boat this January 1st
Both my cardiologists and my GP signed off on me right before I got Middle Aged Dude Lower Back Pain. I am recovered and getting psyched and prepped for the Concept2 Virtual Team Challenge (VTC) starting in January 1, 2022, and persisting through to 31 January at midnight GMT. I will be on Team Potomac Boat Club (Team PBC) and will spend the next 12-days getting my body ready for a good effort for Team PBC.

Keto Diet Cheat Sheet | Enjoy your Cheat Meal While Staying in Ketosis
Following a keto diet with its low-carb, high-fat requirements tends to be incredibly high-maintenance. The strictness of the diet paired with a comprehensive list of food items you can and can’t eat lead a lot of keto dieters on the path of temptation.

My dirty OMAD
tl;dr: my intermittent fasting golden ticket is a one-meal-a-day framework that doesn’t chase making calories or macros. Sometimes my daily calories will be 800 and sometimes 2,000, and that’s OK.

Jon Purizhansky's black swan Joblio
Nobody ever thought that anything or anyone would be able to break apart the hegemony of global labor force human trafficking. Jon Purizhansky's Joblio might just be the disruptor needed to succeed.

Howl by Allen Ginsberg
I have thought about Howl by Allen Ginsberg a lot from 2016 and through the global Novel Coronavirus pandemic. Howl was so salient. Allen Ginsberg was truth a soothsayer. Or, maybe, the more things change, the more they are the same. Spend some time with this amazing poem.

The Facebook post from Mark Zuckerberg to All of Facebook
I know there are are a lot of people who refuse to visit or log onto Facebook so I thought I would share it here.

I'm taking my own kettlebell advice and going heavy
OK, enough flirting. All kettlebells for my two-handed kettlebell swings, from this moment forward, will be equal to or greater than 24kg. Wish me luck. I’m a man, not a mouse. I’m way closer to a moose than a mouse.

The biggest health mistake I ever make in a day is not rowing
I used to be a daily rower. Once, on the water, on the Potomac; then, on my Model C Concept2 Indoor Rower AKA the erg. My business partner, Dan Krueger, asked me if I had been rowing. I admitted that I had not. He re-lit my rowing pilot light. God bless that guy! I am back in the sliding saddle again! I have gotten out of the habit and have started up again today, no matter what else I have on the docket. Even if I walk, run, ruck, swing, ride, or spin, I need to get that slow 5,000 meters in every single day.

From one burrito-a-day to one bowl-a-day in my one meal-a-day diet
tl;dr: OBAD once meant, to me, one burrito-a-day but now it means one bowl-a-day. My 24:.25 daily intermittent fasting eating window from the early afternoon to first thing in the morning. My one bowl-a-day is a big bowl at 48oz-a-day. Here's what I prepare and eat.

Getting back on the sliding saddle for the Concept2 Fall Team Challenge
If you can't make a date with some sexy someone you love from September 15 through October 15 then they could either be in rehab or they could be fully committed to Concept2's yearly virtual team challenge, the Fall Team Challenge. Plan accordingly.

Do you need a carbon steel pan? No. Should you try a carbon steel pan? Certainly, mostly because they're cheap and will last you forever.

I only hit 350 pounds because I was stuffing myself like a French foie gras goose
This is a blog confession that is only a surprise to me: I eat too often and too much. I stuff myself like a prize Christmas goose, like a blue-ribbon hog.

Working against laziness and business every single day to fight my natural quarantine sedentarism
I have been working so hard to fight malaise in Winter plus Quarantine plus Coronavirus so it is important for me to be as active as possible.

My companies have been virtual since the Fall of 2006
My companies have been virtual since the Fall of 2006. I had run my consulting business virtually from 1996 through 2002; however, actually running a proper company was different and mostly amazing (though one really must really trust and believe in the honesty of people in order for it to work).

The Afghan war was a long Khan
tl;dr: Afghanistan was invaded by the United States—not invited. Afghanis were our hostages, not our allies. The occupation was tolerated not enjoyed. Any US love was actually Stockholm syndrome.

Reviewing Total Fitness After 40: The 7 Life-Changing Foundations You Need for Strength, Health and Motivation in your 40s, 50s, 60s, and Beyond by Nick Swettenham
Nick Swettenham reached out to me to check out his book, Total Fitness After 40, and after dicking around with PDFs, MOBI, and ePUB, I grabbed it as a KindleUnlimited. So, I "bought" it myself. I wanted to have it registered with Goodreads and I wanted to be able grab quotes that I can share. I like reviewing books more by showing and sharing instead of telling.
