My recommendation for indoor rower rowing shorts for erging on the Concept2
I've put a lot of meters onto my PM5-updated twenty-year-old Model C Concept2 indoor rowing machine. While you can, and should, row in whatever shorts you have on—even pantsless if you own your own erg—there are some better solutions.

Why men shouldn't stop running
For those of us who aren't naturally as smooth as a dolphin or who aren't religious about their waxing or manscaping, it takes a couple days of running for all the hair in your running shorts to be brutally torn out by the roots; after which, it's all smooth sailing.

My favorite indoor rowing trou shorts just arrived from Concept2
UPDATE: I have indeed blown through a pair of these cotton rowing trou, just as I had feared. They blew out when I was sitting down for an indoor row.

Big, tall, chubby, fluffy, heavyset, and fat athletes should wear rowing unisuits during workouts
UPDATE: both my boathouse, PBC, and I have mostly switched out allegiance from JL to Boathouse for their amazing rowing unisuits, which are much stretchier and forgiving and seamless and, while maybe less durable (we shall see) are quicker to dry and seem to be much more stretchy with a very generous sizing (the 2XL from Boathouse is much more forgiving and comfortable than the 2XL from JLAthletics). I still order my trou from JL, however, and their erging trou are legacy trou and will outlive me, they're sure well-made, thick, and durable (though I don't think they make them any longer—they even had a pocket!)
