No Degree? No Problem
Whether it’s buying a bag of chips that end up being filled halfway or a delicious-looking burger advert turning out to be a depressing combination of bread and meat, it’s normal for us to be disappointed.
A common issue you’ll see in today’s society is people graduating with degrees that ultimately don’t do anything for them. At most, a degree is going to help you get into the industry at the lowest possible point–and that’s it. You might end up getting a nice job with your degree, but your connections and practical work will offer you far more opportunities in life than a glorified piece of paper.
There are far more opportunities in the world than you can imagine
Whether it’s using your skills to teach people online or using your expertise to start a business, there are plenty of opportunities out there in the world that really don’t require any sort of degree. This is because we live in a society where your ability is more important than your privilege or social class. Sure, rich and famous people are given more opportunities and more connections, but some of the wealthiest entrepreneurs of today got their start as humble business owners that started with an idea and grew it from their own ability.
There’s actually very little correlation between someone’s educational background and their success in the workforce. In fact, throughout life, you’re going to see that a lot of the most talented people in the world work in positions that have absolutely no relation to their resume. This is because talent and skills are built from experience in the industry, not in a classroom.
Not having a degree isn’t the end of the world
So whether you’re sitting at home worrying that you never finished college or realized that your degree isn’t worth much even in the industry that you want to work in–don’t panic. Realize that degrees aren’t everything and that there are plenty of paths for you to take in life.
For example, there are organizational leadership careers that you can undertake without a formal degree obtained from college. Instead, you can easily embark on these career paths thanks to online learning. You can learn virtually anything over the internet and in many cases, it’s a lot cheaper than you might expect especially considering there are no travel fees to worry about.
Even if you don’t want to pay money to obtain a degree, there are plenty of ways for you to get started in your industry as long as you’re willing to work from the bottom. This is when showing your practical talents and networking come in handy; as long as you’re willing to contribute to the industry and show that you have the passion to learn, you’re going to be a far more successful person than you would be if you just relied on your degree for everything.
