Barefoot all Day
| filed under: Poem, Poets, Poetry, Poet, PoemsThis was inspired by Anne Sexton "I Remember"
By the 8th of July
the storms rolled in
almost daily - cooling
off the dark air and all
the wetness curled
my hair to excess making
laughter seem more
fun drinking beer on
the porch and my long
dresses draped over your
knees and only
having nights we'd
wake up early some mornings
and walk through the dew
to get coffee before
the subway ride - you
unbathed going home -
greeting unhappy
people on their way
to work and
I'd get off at my stop with
a kiss and feel
barefoot all day.
