The Key To Building A Successful Career From The Ground Up
Feed The Good Wolf
Everybody has two wolves inside of them. The good wolf, and the bad wolf. At any given moment, you can ask yourself which one you are feeding and come up with an answer. Are you procrastinating, and spending more time on work that doesn’t matter? You’re feeding the bad wolf. Are you getting things done, prioritising tasks, and working on your mindset? You’re feeding the good wolf.
At all times there is a part of us that wants us to grow and move forward, and a part of us that wants to hold us back in order to stay ‘safe’. Learning how to overcome the want to feel safe and comfortable is crucial. Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable is the real key.
Which wolf are you feeding right now?
Remove Distractions
There are things in your life that you may not even realize are hindering you from reaching your goals. Emails, your mobile phone, and other things can be huge distractions that stop us from getting any real work done. Then there are people who don’t really want us to succeed. Know what your distractions are, make a list, and eliminate them one by one.
Know Your Strengths and Weaknesses
Understanding yourself inside out is one of the most powerful things you can do. It can be tough, because it means facing everything you need to improve on, and things you’re not so great at. Once you’ve done this, however, you can come up with a plan to improve. You could take an online BBA program, do a workshop or a seminar, and spend time with people who can help you to improve. Be introspective at all times.
Act Like The Person You Want To Be
You may not have that leadership role or promotion yet, but that doesn’t mean you can't act like it. Acting like the person you want to be is extremely powerful. It can help people to see you a different way, which further bolsters your efforts. It can also get you into a completely different frame of mind - one where you don’t bat an eyelid at more responsibility and achieve things you never thought possible. Think, speak, dress, and act like the person you want to be. Hold a clear picture of your best self and your ideal career in your mind. It’ll come to fruition.
Mindset is one of the most powerful things you can work on when building your career. Physical action is important, but physical action will always be more powerful when backed up by a confident and positive mindset.
