Keola and Kapono Beamer Sing Honolulu City Lights

There is one song that makes me misty-eyed — Honolulu City Lights. Not the one sung by The Carpenters, which is an offense to God, but the original, sung by Keola and Kapono Beamer, the Beamer Brothers. Honolulu City Lights was written by Kapono Beamer. Bring me back again.

See this kitchen? Well, it isn’t normal. It is immediately post-cleaning. I hired someone to turn a wolf’s den […]

I Was a D&D Dungeon Master

OK, in honor of the passing of Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons & Dragons, I am coming out. I, Chris Abraham, played D&D from 6th grade until I was in 9th grade, although it might have been longer. I was a Dungeon Master, I held games at my house, I owned all the books […]

Whale-Qaeda

I wrote an article called Don’t Save the Whales and the results have been unanimously negative, hostile — even murderous. I call these 14-year-olds who consider me worthy of being harpooned, flayed, and killed, the Whale-Qaeda! Don’t you love that?

Washington D.C. Jumbo Slice

I have had too many Big Slices and Jumbo Slices for my own good, generally after a night of drinking up in Adams Morgan, Washington, DC.  Well, I always assumed the Jumbo Slice was a variation but it is an official regional pizza style! Huzzah! At least according to A List of Regional Pizza Styles […]

Chris Abraham is an Awful Awful Man

According to many many people, I am an awful awful man, given the comments I have received in response to Don’t Save the Whales. I can live with this sort of accusation given the context and the source. VivyRome wrote:
You Rude Obnoxious idiot! How dare you put your CRUDE opinoins out there like that? […]

Zardoz is the Most Interesting Movie You’ve Never Heard Of

Before I start, check out Sean Connery’s costume (left). Zardoz is the most important movie nobody (I know) has seen. Forget that there is a lot of nakedness and topless women; or, that you get to see a super-buff, 1974-era, Sean Connery running around for more than two hours in a pair of underwear; this […]

My Selfish Attitude to Life on Whales

Check out this loving comment in response to Don’t Save the Whales,
“i’m not sure of what your point is?! whats wrong with trying to save the whales, or any animal for that matter? why are you saying that only whales shouldn’t be saved? why not all other endangered species? i think you are wrong as […]

Martin Marty is a Gift to America and My Favorite Theologian

I got to spend some time hanging out with Martin Marty at Renaissance Weekend a couple years ago. All I knew about him was gleaned from lunches, dinners, and panels together. During last night’s run, my friend Marty Marty started speaking into my iPod earbuds in the form of an interview on Speaking of […]
