- Only a few months ago, marketing executive Chris Abraham dismissed Second Life for not being like Internet darling Twitter, "light, cheap, and open" — and I enjoyed pointing out that Twitter was not like Second Life: Unique, sticky, profitable. In an interesting post-script, thanks to a hands-on tour organized by Dusan Writer, Abraham has a highly revised appraisal. Now it's fun, innovative, and business friendly.
- MixedRealities :: Statistics are not always lies, but they’re not enough to make people fall in loveThe reason why Abraham revised his appraisal, was indeed because Metanomics’ Dusan Writer took him on a tour in Second Life. Of course there are very strong features in Second Life, such as the possibility to communicate in voice and to have actually a sophisticated audio system which makes the voice experience spatially realistic.
But the main thing is that it helps a lot if people are there to guide you around, to figure out your interests, and to show you what is possible. People who have a decent conversation with you. As Abraham says, this should not be mandatory, but for many new residents and visitors it would be a great help.
- Actor Rainn Wilson from NBC’s “The Office” sums up the value of David Henderson’s new book — “Making News in the Digital Era” — when he says: “Henderson gets it. He knows the online media world and has interesting things to say. Besides, he’s the dude who got me on Twitter.”
