The rise of the Twitter business opportunity:
So as Twitter continues it’s seemingly endless growth trajectory – the micro-blogging service now has about 10 million users worldwide, says comScore – it shouldn’t surprise anyone that there are opportunities for consultants to help businesses figure out the value of Twitter.
You simply can’t ignore a communication medium that has enjoyed a growth rate in users of more than 700 percent over the past year and is used by people to talk about anything including your brand.
Undoubtedly some people will scoff at the very idea of a consultant advising you on how to use Twitter. What’s to advise? some might say. You don’t need consultants to know how to use this tool.
I beg to differ. If you consider Twitter as a legitimate business communication medium, worthy of the same consideration you’d give to any other communication medium (a video, for example, or a printed sales brochure or website), then a good consultant can be helpful.
We at Abraham Harrison have been doing Twitter consulting and operations for a couple years now on behalf of our clients. In fact, the proof is in the pudding. If you build it, they won’t necessarily come. Also, there are many many land mines, pit falls, and the “white blood cells” of the entire system are the community. Twitter is not a broadcast medium.
If you want to see a before and an after graphic. We started a Twitter account for an organization called Survivor Corps. When they ended their contract, their growth stalled, as you can see below.
At the same time, we continued on our contract with the Fresh Air Fund. As you can see (and this data only covers three months), @freshairfund has continued to grow over the last three months at quite a brisk pace while @survivorcorps has actually started losing followers.
The aggressive growth, the prospecting, the promoting, and even the pruning away of people following versus followed has resulted in quite a steady growth over time.
Abraham Harrison has promoted the Fresh Air Fund Twitter account via email, a Facebook Page and a couple Facebook Groups. In total, the results, as you can well see, have been impressive.
It is only through our consulting and experience and constant energy towards the growth of the brand on Twitter and on other social networks that has allowed the organization to only grow but be recognized as an early adopter.
For that, all the credit goes to the Fresh Air Fund for taking a risk, taking a chance, and exploring social media with us.

This is our newest store and I thought I would like to use twitter. I am not sure how this is done. I opened an account and put a link on our store front but not sure what to do next. I have not been into this social networking on the compter.
Any advice?
