Dear Chris,
Due to an antiquated, Jim Crow-era law, 25% of African-American men in the Commonwealth of Virginia are currently disenfranchised. Laws like this are plainly part of "Old Virginny"-which Governor Tim Kaine declared last fall was "dead."
I feel that I have a responsibility to talk with you about the issues that are most critical to building our progressive future – even the difficult ones. This is why I’m the only candidate addressing the tough but critical issue of Virginia’s disenfranchisement laws, what they mean for our progressive future, and what we can do about them.

In this campaign, I promise I’ll continue to address all the issues that are critical to our progressive future. I was the last candidate to get into this race and the first candidate to offer a comprehensive jobs plan. This is my pledge to you, but I need your help.
