To finally follow-up on my article, The Freezer Might Have Unfogged My Seiko 6309-7040 Diver, I found a solution: I opened up my watch — unscrewed the crown and pulled it out — and placed the watch into a bag of uncooked dry rice over night and that did the trick, knock on wood.
