Since we’re all concerned about the profane carbon footprints laid behind by our love of the jet aircraft, I am wondering if we’re reentering the age of the zeppelins and the airships, like this one over New York City:

With soaring fuel costs and greenhouse gas concerns, zeppelins might get their second chance to be a relevant mode of transportation. According to the New York Times, several countries are now looking into developing dirigibles for transporting things such as sightseers, postal deliveries and scientific payloads. France’s postal service, La Poste, seems to have some of the most ambitious plans in mind: using airships on routes between France and Corsica or the Antilles in an effort to reduce emissions.
Or this one, also over NYC:

Not sure about this. I rode in a blimp for a sporting event and it was a very strange and scary experience. I agree, however that the carbon footprint from airplanes are very concerning and frightening. Image how surreal a sky full of Zeppelin would look like? I am considering rail travel.
Tlee » I bet you that for anyone having the new experience of flying or doing something new, flying on a commercial airplane can be “a very strange and scary experience” — so I am sure we would get used to zipping around in dirigibles.
