I attended Aliamanu Elementary in 63-64 (I remember my teacher running around screaming the day JFK was killed) and I attended Aliamanu Middle School from 64 to 66. It WAS super wild back in those days. Makalapa crater is where we mostly hung out. We always had our bb guns and firecrackers with us cause we were at constant war with other groups of kids, sometimes Shore Patrol would chase us and we would be at war with them too. I remember climbing a huge monkey pod tree that overhung Makalapa Dr. and dropping a full string of fire crackers in the back of their truck. I lived in Ewa Beach (Navy Houseing) and on Noonan Street in Honolulu growing up. At the end of the street was a huge playground that, every once in a while, would have a full parachute laying there. We'd throw it over the monkey bars and goof around for hours. We also used to go to the Gibson Sky Slide, a huge orange slide right outside the Gibson's store. In Ewa we used to walk down to the beach every day. I believe there was a Marine rifle range right by the military housing.
