The Actual Berlin-Kreuzberg, originally uploaded by Chris Abraham.
Kreuzberg is one of the coolest neighborhoods in Berlin. Lots of hipsters but also the bourgeoisie, my peeps. Cafes abound and so do bars and clubs and cool record stores. The word Kreuzberg means “cross mountain” which is what you see above the fake waterfalls, which I am told gets turned off at night and then turned on again; also, seasonally. While it looks like there is a huge cathedral on the top, it is misleading. There isn’t a church up there at all, it is merely and simply the Kreuz, the cross.

Here’s the Kreuz that sits at the top of the Berg, which is to say, literally a cross — no church or anything else. But it is beautiful, if it weren’t so forrest green. Either way, it is a lovely walk; however, there’s quite a lot of wind atop the hill, there.
