I don’t know how I got onto Spock.com but I know I discovered it because Mark and Taylor both were amused by how ubiquitous I am online and pointed me to my emergent profile. They were also interested in how complete my personality profile is through the Spock.com filter — even before I started watering and feeding it. Well, I am now the 161th most powerful denizen of Spock.com and on the Spock Power Leaderboard. Very amusing indeed!

Hi Chris,

It’s nice to see you’re so much excited about your presence on Spock with such a well drown profile- it’s because you, as you said, ‘ubiquitous I am online’. I think that most people that consider Spock useful and excited, are of the kind of Networkers, like you and me [http://www.spock.com/Andrey-Golub] :)
I also had tons of pages everywhere and several social networks I am part of, was hoping that tools like SocialURL and Naymz could help but those still added more headache… and then I found Spock and I love it since the first day I joined :)

your score will grow soon if you’ll be contributing to Spock (by inviting new friends, creating new tags for other people, confirming and correcting the tags already presented). Your friends will come to vote for your tags since they know you, and they will be also glad I believe to see “it all in one place” about you :)
at least my friend told me- “Andrey, it’s fantastic! finally we can see YOU, not just some (lots!) of PAGES about you”.

meet you on Spock.

Andrey Golub » Thanks, Andy! You’re Spock #1, aren’t you? How did you get that great Spock URL? I would love to have http://www.spock.com/Chris-Abraham — do you have the sort of connections required to score that for me? I look forward to growing my network and I hope to meet you some day in person.

Same thing happened to me a few months back. Have fun with it. I find myself connecting together old friends, trying to remember traits about them. I think the power of spock is only just beginning and while the potential for abuse is certainly there (as it is for Wikis and other user-edited content) – the benefits far outweight any negatives.

Besides, it gives you a really great chance to put your best face forward.

Spock power just the icing on the cake – gives you incentive to accurately portray the world as best you can.

Spock makes you feel smart.

Spock makes you feel important.

Spock helps you prove that you do a better job than computers at people, and helps the spock programmers move further on to try to prove that their computers are better than the people.

Between the two, everybody wins.

Can’t beat that.

x Chris:
I think you’ll get your short URL soon, you a close to it :).
Spock has a rule to assign the nice URLs to Power User- so you should firstly prove you have enough commitment for Spock.

about the Power- I didn’t do anything special, just invited my friends, tagged them, well worked a lot to describe myself and all my friends. So I just did what Spock wants everyone of us to do. And I was #1. But of course the guys like me, Business Networkers, won’t be on top forever- my most connections are business contacts and I am not going to bother them too much with requests like “vote for me plz!”, or by creating lots of 100% but useful tags to gain more power! ;)

I am a true spock evangelist and believer in the power of Open Social Web. So I am just doing what I think Social Web wants everyone of us to do, in order to put the life flame to Web 2.0 and the next generation of the web also.

contact me on Spock if you wish a further discussion!
Regards, Andrey
