When Shel Israel asked, “Is blogging starting to fade?,” I answered “no.” Why? Well, “It is like the White Stripes. The early adopters are getting bored with ‘blogging’ but most word denizens don’t even have broadband access yet or even a very nice PC. Truth is, people don’t make money off of early adopters. I have all my money on the late adopters. More and more people will connect online. It doesn’t really matter at all what the cool kids are doing. The cool kids are not the salt of the earth. The cool kids are fickle. The cool kids want to be in a rarefied world of latest and greatest. They’re great as guides but at some point we need to let them move ahead and we need to claim a stake to the land they have shown us and spend some time tending it and just hanging for a while.”

I agree with you, Chris. I think businesses are finally starting to get the “whole blogging thing” years after it erupted. I think early adopters are likely to be getting bored (which is why Twitter et. al are taking off), just as we’re coming out of the trough of disillusionment.
Agreed. Let the fickle, flighty, and playful go ahead and throw their well-earned SEO and page rank to the wind, relinquishing their Google Juice to sites such as Pownce and Twitter, see what I care!
I agree. The time has never been better as a blogger. The blogosphere is a marathon and not a sprint.
Hey Chris! Hopefully you remember me from your classes. I just posted about blogging on the It’s Hot blog (http://daol.aol.com/blogs) and linked back to your post because I like your insight here. Thanks for sharing it. I also brought up the situation with the blogging pedophile. Would love to hear your thoughts on censorship vs. safety in the blogosphere.
