Knocked Up is an Encore to Freaks and Geeks

Last Tuesday, after spending time with Dae Levine, I dropped in to see Knocked Up, the new comedy by Judd Apatow. As I thought, Knocked Up is an ode to Freaks and Geeks, just like Undeclared and The 40 Year Old Virgin. Apatow fell madly in love with Freaks and Geeks and had his heart broken so badly that he is forever try to reclaim her, much like Humbert Humbert who, losing is first childhood love to death turns to Lolita. Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Jason Segel, Jay Baruchel, and Martin Starr (at least) are alumni of Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared.
