I am on the fence because so many people I know, well beyond just annoying designers, now recommend Apples. I love my ThinkPad X’s. Shall we let the wisdom of crowds decide? I will be buying this machine, based on the wisdom of this Prediction Market, on June 1st!
Which laptop should I, Chris Abraham, buy?

If you buy a Mac, buy it from a dealer like the one in Clarendon or Mac Heaven in Chantilly, VA. The Apple Stores do not have good service.
The Mac’s are too heavey to carry around airports if you have to do that very often.
I was one of those annoying designers. Now that I’m a reporter, I’m still recommending Macs. Does that mean my vote counts twice?
And dear Alice, have you ever MET Chris? This man doesn’t need to worry about carrying a 4 pound computer through the airport. He could lift the Mac STORE if he chose.
I guess the little laptops do look a little silly, don’t they?
Mac Heaven makes their living off of Apple Warranty work. I took an out of warranty laptop in and they wanted $1200 to repair it. I declined the repair and was charged $90 for them to look at it.
When I got my laptop home, it noticed that is was performing even more poorly than when it went in. Some investigation later, I found that my 2GB of memory was now only 1.5 GB. I popped the memory cover off and found that what had been a matched set of 1GB chips (installed them myself so I know they were identical) was now a mismatched set… and clearly one of them was defective.
The owner of the company refused to do anything about this, even refused to acknowledge that he might have done anything wrong (like swapping out my memory chips).
AVOID Mac Heaven… some of my friends swear by them, but I have other friends who tell me this place is the worst place to take your Mac. I believe the latter set now.
