Although I pledge never to engage in online dating, Emily sent me an article, Online dating is about game theory — not looks, about online dating,
“Whether you’re creating your online profile, or scanning through those of others, online dating is a tricky business at best. Hot or not, online dating isn’t about you. It’s about who you want to be, and who you want Imaginary You to date. Just like offline dating. Except in the real world, you can’t use Photoshop.”
What do you think? Is the key to dating just being out there? Actually, for most of us A-types in DC, that may be so. I think it all comes down to finally giving up and giving in. You end up with the person you’re just too tired to leave and too afraid of dying alone and tool close to running out of age or beauty or too burned to ever hold out until you find your soul mate: better settle and have someone than being single forever?

I think you can use the online dating as another way to expand your possible dating circle, but there’s no comparison to real life. As far as settling, that’s not for me. I know too many people who have settled, and they don’t look happy.
