Last night I met up at a Connecticut Avenue, NW, DC, bar called Cafe Citron for happy hour. My friend Anita had organized it. I planned to meet my lovely future housemate, Nicole, there and we would see how the evening progressed.
Earlier in the day, right before the happy hour, I went to the gym and kicked my ass on the erg and then went to get my first Mojito.
It was crowded and Anita was not there. I don’t think Anita’s sister and her friends like me, but I went upstairs to cool off (I was so boiled on the walk over from the gym, and it took no time) and waited.
Jonah and Kinga were the first to arrive. Kinga is Jonah’s new girl. Tall and very Slavic. She is from Hungary. The entered Nicole. Women hate Nicole. She must be immune to stink eyes, dirty looks, and so forth.
I was pretty uncomfortable with the entire bar area so I made a foray into the basement. Its the lounge and there was dancing there. My first Mojito went down smoothly.
And so did the second and third.
The music was wild. Arabic pop, Indian pop, Europop, and Latin. The Salsa was flying and when the Meringue started, I grabbed Nicole and she and I danced. You will be happy and amused to know that she is physically tiny at 5’4″, but she is also like a wiggle worm and all attempts at trying to lead failed miserably.
The the night progressed and Mark arrived after seeing Sex and Lucia. He says that the reviews are spot on. It seemed to him that is was too relevant to the interesting place he is in right now. Sarah arrived later while I was moving the car from the garage.
And then the party raged on. Since I am tired of writing, this will be a two-part article, or merely one.
