
Most things on Google have “feeds”, including the Google Mail INBOX: http://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom. The Google Personalized Homepage supports Google Reader, Gmail, and Google Calendar “widgets.” Google calls their widgets Google Gadgets. Google now uses a hybrid ATOM xml feed called Google Data (GData), or GData. Google Gadgets are simple and powerful extensions of normal feeds with formatting. Google Desktop supports Google Talk and Gmail as desktop gadgets. Google Desktop also indexes complete hard drive content. Desktop installs a “search server” as a “localhost” web server. Google Desktop integrates your email and files with web results.
