Nostalgic About Aliamanu Elementary School

I grew up in Hawaii and attended Aliamanu Elemantary School in Salt Lake, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. Look!

ALIAMANU ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BACKGROUND HISTORY

Aliamanu Elementary School first opened in 1957 in an old building that was once Pearl Harbor Intermediate School. There was only one class in each grade level from kindergarten to grade 6.

The following year, Aliamanu Elementary School was relocated to its present site on Salt Lake Boulevard. The Aliamanu area is considered part of the larger Radford Complex that includes Salt Lake subdivision and Foster Village. The community is a diverse population of naval military families, middle income apartment condominium dwellers, and low income rental units. Aliamanu Elementary services Moanalua Terrace (Navy), Maloelap (Navy officers), Catlin (enlisted Navy), Halsey Terrace, Radford Terrace, and Aliamanu Homes. The population of the school community is a mixture of local and military families. The current student enrollment is under one thousand and has declined over the years.
