I caught the first episode of The Black Donnellys and was blown away. The Sopranos comes to mind while watching The Black Donnellys because of its sensual brutality and its fetish for might makes right. Murder, mayhem, vengeance, and vendetta are sold as character, loyalty, nobility, family, and brotherhood. Now, off of my soap box, and past all of the obvious complaints of gross racial and socio-economic stereotypes, The Black Donnellys will keep me watching every Monday night for an hour after Heroes.
