Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion is an Ode to Eames’ Power of 10

eames powers of ten picnic Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion is an Ode to Eames Power of 10Did you notice the homage to Powers of 10 in the Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion commercial? Excellent. While watching CBS Sunday Morning, I saw a commercial for Vaseline Intensive Rescue Body Lotion with an obvious homage to Charles and Ray Eames. I am blissed out.

The commercial fetishes a sea of jazz hands as analogy for dry and moist skin. As the camera pulls away from the dancing, interlocking hands, the hands transition to the moist skin of a woman’s shoulder.

As the camera pulls back further, the woman is lying with a man, having a picnic, on a blanket, in a park, an homage to Charles and Ray Eames’ Powers of 10 documentary film.

Kudos to Vaseline and their ad agency or record for the wink to us, I for one really appreciate it.

Here’s another very cool commercial for Vaseline Intensive Rescue Body Lotion that was shown in the UK, in England:
