Does Raising the Minimum Wage Result in Outsourcing?

by Chris Abraham on 24/12/2006 ·

Some believe that raising the minimum wage will result in jobs outsourcing. In my opinion, the great majority of minimum wage jobs require an on-site presence; additionally, minimum wage jobs are reserved for the inexperienced, uneducated, untrained, part-time, and unhireable worker.

Coding, programming, help desk, and operator support jobs are rarely minimum wage. The real question is, will raising the minimum wage result in a black market underground workforce of undocumented and under-the-table workers? What raising the minimum wage will do is put lots of small business out of business; or, almost as bad, put small business growth into remission.
