Everybody fell for Josephe Rago’s bait in his WSJ OpEd piece, The Blog Mob. In response to “Written by fools to be read by imbeciles,” I say that blogs are by us fools for us imbeciles. We bloggers want to be neither reporters nor journalists. Seriously. PS: I love the Wall Street Journal.
Blogs are, well, just blogs, Mr. Rago, The Daily Top Five, The Blog Mob: “Written by fools to be read by imbeciles,” the dumbest thing i’ve read in a while, The Blog Mob “Written by fools to be read by…,” OpinionJournal – Best of the Web Today -…, On criticism of the media and blogs, Elite media opinion of blogs, Curious WSJ Attack on Blogs, Is it the Story or the Credibility that is at, Instapundit.com, WSJ Bodyslams Bloggers, A Limit To Media Bashing, Bloggers Vs. Journalists, Part 2,846, The “Decay” of Opinion-Making, WSJ: Blogs Written By Morons, For Morons, and so many more!

I agree, blogging is totally different from jouranlism…its much better!!!!
The Gutnenberg reference always makes me laugh. It seems that blogs are more like Brownie cameras. They tarnsformed a complex technical process into a push button solution. Culturally the Brownie camera changed the way that we saw things and allowed for sharing amongst our circle of family and friends. This changed the dyamics of picture taking – materpieces could be created without masters.
Blog cultue is somewhat more hyper in its connectivity so mountains out of molehills come faster and with more frequency. Not all Blogs are equal in the same way that High School, Community Theater and a Broadway productions can work the same materials to different ends.
Although much of the criticism of MSM is well deserved, Blog culture probably could do with some self reflection as well. Though Mr Rago may not be the best at articulating some of the problems with the format it doesn’t mean that they aren’t there and should be examined in less confrontaional terms.
Huh, Hmmmm, journalists need to pay more attention to grammar.
