Check out FTC Moves to Unmask Word-of-Mouth Marketing, “The Federal Trade Commission yesterday said that companies engaging in word-of-mouth marketing, in which people are compensated to promote products to their peers, must disclose those relationships.” Thanks to Mark Del Bianco for getting my back. I like to call my brand of word of mouth marketing white ops: open kimono, transparency, full-disclosure, and brand ambassadorship. Full-disclosure. That said, I abhor legislation.
