In principio erat Verbum et Verbum erat apud Deum, et Deus erat Verbum.

Hoc erat in principio apud Deum. Omnia per ipsum facta sunt, et sine ipso factum est nihil quod factum est; in ipso vita erat, et vita erat lux hominum; et lux in tenebris lucet, et tenebrae eam non comprehenderunt.

Fuit homo missus a Deo cui nomen erat Joannes.

Deo Gratias.

Initium sancti evangelii secundum Joannem
Joann. 1,1-14

several obvious errors in text, on quick reading:

sanguinibus not sanquinibus
habitavit not habitabit
gloriam not gloiram
Unigeniti not Unigenti

conor » Thanks for the edits — I just sort of found it in an online Latin Mass somewhere and copied-and-pasted it. I didn’t do any editing. While I did study Latin for three years in school, I have lost it all to time.

Thanks for the quote and the acceptance of suggestion. I needed the exact words because there is a more fundamental error, not in the Latin but in English, but not in Spanish.
“In the beginning was the Word…” is wrong, “In the beginning was the Verb…”
Word is normally a label of a thing or object, verb implies action. Your view of God tells you which is more appropriate.
My sister is a nun of the “Incarnate Verb” in Spanish, Verbo Encarnado.
Philosophy is not as important as it used to be in Medieval times. Hard to imagine that many of us grew up thinking how “advanced” we are compared to the “Dark Ages”, except when it comes to Theology and Philosophy -they could wonder how do we tell what is true? How soon will we include Euthanasia in Medi-Care? Rhetorical, of course!
