What would you do if you won the lottery? Would you live the same life or would you quit your job, your love, your city? Are you living a life of quiet desperation? Have you seen Windfall? Would making millions overnight solve everything?
According to what I have seen from the new TV show, Windfall, “the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation“ — until hitting the lottery, at which point they shed their lives, their wives, and their friends for mass upgrading. And, of course, that never really works out.
If I won the lottery, there wouldn’t be many changes. I would live in DC, I would do online PR, and I would continue adoring my friends. Major change: a new pad.
I would buy a condo at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Georgetown, overlooking the Potomac, the Whitehurst, and Rosslyn. Very close to the boathouse and in Georgetown.
Okay, I have always wanted a farm house in Shenandoah — Middleburg would be perfect.
I might upgrade to an e39 M5 (instead of an e39 530i) but there wouldn’t be much difference.
The quiet desperation in my life only has to do with money and not the life I have chosen. I am not living a life of obligation and commitment, I have a lot of freedom — and have had a lot of freedom — and so the majority of my lifestyle is the result of what I want in one form or another.
My time is my own and were I to win the lottery, I would buy the same things, only nicer.
Okay, if the lottery was a lot of money, I would buy a flat in Paris along with a car and a motorcycle. I would live between central Paris, downtown Washington, and Middleburg, Virginia.
