Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are Good for Democracy

by Chris Abraham on 23/06/2006 ·

There are lots of people accusing Jon Stewart, and guess the Daily Show, of being “bad for democracy?”

No, Democracy is a thinking person’s realpolitik. And keeping a population engaged and educated enough to support a true democracy is why we Americans enjoy a representational democracy instead of a true democratic system.

Jon Stewart is able to engage Americans post-Mtv well enough to deliver the sort of education required to support a true democracy. Stephen Colbert aussi. These men are true patriots.
