Biking to Work Day Two

by Chris Abraham on 20/06/2006 · 4 comments

Day two of my journey to become the guy who commutes to work on a bicycle: the bike commuter guy.

Missed the rain. By butt hurt at first because I hadn’t biked much all season. My legs were stiff at first because I am no longer a spring chicken. I am smart enough to wear the helmet Wendy bought me. Clipless pedals are great in the city. My commute only taked 20 minutes. The shower was free this AM. I am already at my desk, having worked out and de-stressed. Have a meeting in 30-minutes and plenty of time to prepare. Brilliant. How many days before I am actually technically a bicycle commuter? When do I become bike commuter guy? 28-days?

It sure as hell takes more than 2 days, but by week 2 I’d say you qualify. ;-)

Getting or removing a habit it supposed to take 28-days, right?

I started and after a day it got easier. Choose a route based on pleasure not deadline. Take empty roads if possible and bail on the sidewalk If traffic is too nasty hydrate don’t listen to ipod wach rear view mirror and bring bike in with you. Dont listen to this, ride for the wind.

Yes, Alex, agreed — and never put earphones in your ears — hearing is important for safety and warning.
