I Am Happy to be Alive Biking Home in Heavy Thunderstorms

Thunderstorms hit hard tonight and we were deluged. I rode my bike to work this morning and hoped to row but the sky fell. Electrical storms and ringing thunder. And, it was incredible. It reminded me of my courier days. The rain was heavy and warm. The water surged and I needed to ford some deep raging pools. Impossible to keep the rain out of my eyes. It was incredible and exhilerating. Sensual and drenching. I highly recommend it.

Love your attitude. While many people might view getting drenched as unfortunate, you revel in the sensuality of water on skin on a hot day. What an amazing perspective.

Some of my fondest memories involve getting caught in the rain: darting into coffeeshops in New York on Saturday afternoons, walking in the rain with loved ones, picking apples in Connecticut.

So keep on spreading the romantic notions, my friend, and perhaps our city will be a more loving (and tolerant) place.
