Bloggers are All Unique Individuals Just Like Everyone Else

The kind of person who blogs (and I don’t know if I am even a real Silverback Gorilla or Jane Goodall) hates being stereotyped, hates being categorized, and has the hubris and confidence to consider his or her voice either unique, important, or extraordinary — just like everyone else. Tiffany is a brilliant example of this as she shares in Hi, I’m one of “those people??? you keep talking about.

Truth is, we blog panelists and blogging analysts are speaking to the emergent blogger pattern. We can make a lot of safe descriptions and predictions based on not you, you Smiths-loving, black-wearing, goth-living individual, but rather you and the emergent, self-selecting pattern that you and all your friends make when you squint your eyes from across the room. And that pattern is recognizable and predictable and representational and you. Sorry, you, blogger, are different just like everyone else.
