I am giving up sloth for Lent. Today is the first day of the Summer as far as I am concerned because March 1 is the first day Thompson’s Boat Center is open this season!
As you might remember from long, long, ago, I am the proud owner of a single Hudson racing shell. Last season was my first season rowing with her and it started badly.
Her name is Gerris (I actually Christened her Gerris) and she is a heavyweight carbon fiber racing single shell from the boatmaking company Hudson Boat Works. She lives very happily and permanently on a rack in Thompson’s Boat Center, a spot for which I waited on a list for several years.
I have a new identity as a rower. From now on and until Novermber 15th, sculling is my happy hour.
