Great Expectations in Personal Grooming

“I shaved my pubic hair this morning. For a man,” shared the Everyday Goddess.

What are your experiences and expectations in personal grooming? What is the current state of fashion? Of expectation? I have heard the most awful stories from both sides of the gender, and it usually feeds into what a lover expects. It also has a lot to do with the state of popular culture. I also believe it has much to do with control and how much fuss someone is willing to go to over you.

“I was fascinated by what my body looked like in its natural state,” she added.

I like looking at eyebrows and fingernails. They are pretty indicative of the entire concept of natural state versus the extensive grooming required to maintain eyebrows and fingernails. No, your head of hair is too easy to maintain, really, it comes down to the more dificult to maintain cultural signifiers like body grooming, eyebrows, fingernails, and also toenails.

And at the end of the day, I think men of dating age sort of expect single women of a dating age to be fully exfoliated, fully manicured and pedicured, and — I know for a fact — fully defoliated.

  1. I don’t like full defoliation. I’ve had it, but it’s just not my thing. I prefer a close trim with clean edges, like a good topiary sculpture.
