Like Howard Mortman, Michael Savage was a guilty pleasure of mine until Mr. Savage left American Right on XM Radio. Luckily, I have just discovered from Extreme Mortman that you can grab the Michael Savage show on WTNT AM 570 from 6PM-10PM. Every night.

“In my estimation” (Savage’s frequent qualifier and sue-proof statement), Savage is:
Michael (Wiener) Savage for whatever reasons, finds it impossible to acknowledge that he was born Jewish. I believe that his own brand of self-loathing becomes particularly evident when he, with three extra helpings of vitriol, attacks any prominent person who happens to be Jewish e.g., Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Charles Schumer et. al.
1) Self-loathing and terribly insecure, thereby hating anyone better known (millions) than he.
2) Reproaches anyone who manages to get in a few words, by screaming at them: “Don’t argue with me, you’re talking to (a) genius here!”
3) Has possibly the world’s most mirthless bark for laughter, followed by a nasal snort.
4) Strangely in love with long “O’s” — which leads him to badly mispronounce lots of words like “proselytize,.” His version: PROs-so-la-tize, instead of the legitimate “PRA” sound…
5) Talks so often about liquor (”which he doesn’t always NEED”) that I am left with the impression that he is a true alcoholic.During his last, rather disastrous live gig, he reportedly couldn’t perform without an actual liquor bottle on stage with him (his wife finally walked out and removed it).
6) This self-anointed “loner” must have the world’s most lonely wife. Savage talks endlessly about where HE likes to eat, what HE just had to eat, the best food HE ever had, the worst, HIS digestive problems, etc., etc., but never seems to mention his wife in this context. Virtually everthing he does when not behind his beloved microphone is apparently done alone … including his “lone boat cruises into the setting sun …” He convinces me that his one true love is his dog Teddy, which accompanies him everywhere — including the broadcast studio.
7) This guy, holder of “a real Ph.D from a ‘real university,’” after 30 some years in California, still talks with a thick Queens accent. He constantly says he “sore” (saw) something, mispronounces lots of other words as mentioned, and Ph.D or not, demonstrates that he doesn’t know the difference between “I” and “me” in sentence structure.
9) Savage constantly berates fellow broadcasters and others in the media who fail to recognize (”I’ve been ostracized and blackballed”) his existence — much less invite him on their shows. But should one of the above become the rare exception (viz., Schumer) and respond by phone to The Savage Nation, our stumpy little “tough guy” becomes an instant ass-kisser.
10) I believe that Savage’s outlandish blather appeals to a vocal-but-inarticulate minority of true-believers — mostly people who feel (with good reason) that they’ve pretty much flunked life; types who shake hands in a way that suggests an exchange of rotting fish, and whose eyes are unable to meet anyone else’s.
I admit to a morbid fascination with Wiener-Savage - sort of like watching ants tear apart a beetle, or snakes feeding.
All in all, as the old song suggests, I suppose he is “more to be pitied than censured.”
i am appaled of the comment that mr. savage said.. gerald ford was a ‘DUFFAS” ..THE DAY OF HIS FUNERAL … I LOST ALOT OF RESPECT FOR HIM..
