An Apology to My Gentle Commenters
by Chris Abraham on 22/02/2006 ·
To the folks who read my blog, especially those of you who take the time to comment, I am sorry that some of them disappeared. They were hidden under an avalanche of comment spam.
I just burned through all 3,600 moderated comments that have been sitting in the database for the last six months and have published all the real comments, junking all of the comment spams. There were thousands of spam comments.
Today, I took the time and risk of upgrading my Movable Type 3.15 install to the most current version, Movable Type 3.2.
And it was easy and there are powerful anti comment space and anti trackback spam and anti ping spam.
I also fixed the handshake between the this blog and the TypeKey authentication.
Finally, if you’re a repeat commenter, you are probably clear to comment now without having to deal with moderation.
If you have not upgraded from your WordPress version 1.* or your Movable Type version 2.* then you really had better.
They have come a long way, baby.
