Please email me with recommendations for a new hosting company. Mine sucks.

If you are a hosting company who would like to host this blog for lots of kudos and promotion, I am open to that as well — email me.

Why do I need to move?

Well, I am quite unhappy with the reliability of my current hosting company, ImHosted.

ImHosted sucks.

Please email me with recommendations on other hosting companies.

I would love to have access to shell via ssh.

I need a gig of storage space and more than 10 gigs of bandwidth. Real bandwidth since I routinely get hit by Slate, Wonkette, and the Guardian.

What I need is access to 10-20 gigs of bandwidth that I will use the hell out of, not 250G of bandwidth that I can’t use because my blog is always down.

I also want Fantastico and uptime and reliability and the ability to deal with getting slashdotted.

Do I need to get a dedicated server for one stupid blog?

If you are a hosting company who would like to host my blog for some love and attention, please email me and I would love to talk with you. You’ll get lots of love but you also need to promise me some amazing service.

Their package was too good to be true, literally.

They can’t handle it. My site is down, slow, or inaccessible routinely.

Site uptime feels like electricity in Rwanda: sometimes the lights are on and sometimes they’re off — unaccaptable.

I’ve used Dreamhost for over a year now, and I can’t say a single bad thing about them. I run about 8 sites, and they offer the ability to host unlimited sites with one account.

Check out all of their features at Dreamhost.com.
20gig storage (your storage increases by 160 megs per week)
1 TERABYTE of bandwidth (which increases by 8 gigs per week).

You also get a free domain when you register. I have full access to all of my sites, and like I said, I can’t say enough about them.

I created a coupon code that will get you $95 off the 1 year price (I am not trying to make money off of this at all as that I sacrificed it all in giving the discount), I am just trying to help others find a good host. If you use code “Nick” when you check out you will get the discount off of the 1 year plan at Level 1.

This should make it about $25 for your first year, and you get a domain free as well.

I hope you find something that works for you. I know this deal sounds too good to be true, but Dreamhost is one of the companies that just gets it. They even have a blog, which is a great read as well (http://blog.dreamhost.com/)
