Fisking is Fact Checking By the Bloggers for the People

by Chris Abraham on 19/01/2006 · 0 comments

After attending a panel discussion on blogging at the Hudson Institute, I now know that the blogosphere has taken a cue from the New Yorker’s mad skills in fact checking, known as fisking.

Fisking is “a rightwing blogosphere term describing ruthlessly detailed point-by-point criticism that highlights errors or other problems in a statement, article, or essay. It should be noted that these ‘errors’ do not necessarily refer to factual inaccuracies, but more often to perceived inaccuracies in the analysis of presented facts.”
