WP-Cache is a Dream Come True for WordPress Blogs

by Chris Abraham on 20/12/2005 ·

If you are thinking about going back to the static file structure of Movable Type because a dynamic database-backed WordPress blog is too resource-intensive, try out Ricardo Galli’s WP-Cache plugin. Brilliant!

I love WordPress in so many ways but there are advantages to the way Movable Type does things. Sending everything to static files saves a lot of the cost of running a database-backed PHP/MySQL site. An MT site is much more sustainable under load (a stern slashdotting, for example) because MySQL is the weak link. After only a few minutes online I was able to find an amazing solution: Ricardo Galli’s WP-Cache. I am testing WP-Cache on a couple sites to see if it solves load problems, especially when it comes to the beating that RSS puts on a dynamic site.
