Young Benefactors Jolly Holiday Silent Auction at the Smithsonian Castle

David and I attended the 16th Annual Jolly Holiday Silent Auction sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution’s Young Benefactors last Friday.

Although I have been a member of the Young Benefactors for a while, this was my first event. Everybody looked fancy and the Smithsonian Castle is a gorgeous venue for anything.

I was surprised and delighted to run into all the usual suspects I see at all the good parties. Lookin’ good!

Although I was well under the weather with what I am pretty sure was the bubonic plague, I got a dance in.

The invite said it was from 6:30 until 10 and it ended at five after ten. The music stopped and that was it. I don’t know about David, but I fully plan to participate more often in these events. If for no other reason than to get some use out of my suit.

A couple weeks ago, while hanging out with Oliver and David, we came to the conclusion that there is a core of influencial people in America that numbers no more than 1,400 people. This represents all the power: politics, business, entertainment, law, policy, business, finance, government, security, technology, and the media.

Most all of them know each other pretty darn well. And its a good thing.

  1. Chris came to that conclusion all by himself. Olvier and I were raising our brows in skepticism. I figure the real number is closer to 14, and they’re all listed in my cellphone.
