We Are Wearing Black for World AIDS Day

Ribbon thumb We Are Wearing Black for World AIDS DayI heard last night on the BBC that one-in-twenty African American DC residents and one-in-seven DC African American men are infected with HIV/AIDS. Why not donate to the Whitman-Walker Clinic.

In 2003, there were 294.6 per 100,000, cases in the black community in the District and 68.7 per 100,000 in the white community.

These numbers are head-and-shoulders above all the other states with the exception of Connecticut, strangely enough

The BBC compared the success of the virus in DC to its success in the third world, although not as bad as South Africa.

More info as I find it.
