Although some consider the Honda ad campaign lazy and derivative, I realize that Honda-buyers are in fact lazy and derivative. Brilliant.

Making shameless Seinfeld references such as “2006 Civic. They’re Here. And they are magnificent,” based on the Teri Hatcher quip on Seinfeld, “and by the way … they’re real, and they’re spectacular,” is fucking inspired! You really can’t get more au courant than referencing Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives), Seinfeld sentimentalism, and spectacular breasts. Boobs are really what NLP is all about.

Oh, come on. Maybe if the car had any overt physical resemblance to the organs themselves – like a Hyundai Santa Fe with its protruding headlights.

The Civic looks like the old PineWood Derby racing cars we had to make in Boy Scouts – in particular that one car in the whole troop that actually had smooth lines: proof that one lucky scout’s dad had a belt sander and a steady hand.
