Washington Anti-War Protest Was a Simulacrum: Just an Excuse to Party

by Chris Abraham on 26/09/2005 ·

“An antiwar rally in Washington draws at least 100,000. A pro-war event draws 400,” says Salon.com. This is patently untrue.

Actually, there were 400 antiwar protesters with conviction and 99,600 student drones who were afraid they would miss the party of a lifetime.

And there were 400 pro-American and pro-soldier protesters with conviction protesting against them.

Besides, if this were a real protest, there would have been more than the 250,000 that showed up in Washington over 36-years-ago.

I live in DC and it was party-central. Way more Woodstock than a serious issues-based protest against the war. Besides, 100,000 protesters in Washington, DC, is small time. The Washington, DC, rally against the Vietnam War checked in at more than 250,000. And that was back in 1969.
