A Zipshuttle Could Solve Our Space Exploration Dilemma

Listening to NPR coverage of the future of the NASA space program had me thinking and I believe I have an elegant solution.

On one hand, we can no longer afford the upkeep of the Space Shuttle fleet; on the other hand, the next space vehicle is not planned to be commissioned until 2014. We need to support the space station and we need to continue space exploration because that’s just what we do as humans. Oh, what a quandry. Alas, I have come up with a solution.

Zipcar can develop a reusable space vehicle that can be used by any space program that needs to deliver a payload, install a satellite, fix a telescope, or even have a bachelor party.

This would allow Europe, Asia, Japan, and good ole Mother Russia to have a way into space!

And we as a nation could save the money we would have spent on owning our own shuttle on saving up for the 2014 next-generation shuttle under development.
