Although amazingly grateful that we have not suffered any follow-up 9-11 terrorist acts, I am glad I am not the only American who wonders why there has not been a follow-up foreign-sponsored terrorist attack on U.S. soil since September 11th, 2001.
Funny thing is is that I don’t agree with any of the article’s reasons: suicide terror takes a team; U.S. Muslims want the American dream, not jihad; the U.S. homeland is better protected; al-Qaeda Central is dead; Bin Laden is patiently planning another blockbuster; Muslim terrorists are focused on U.S. allies in Europe and U.S. troops in Iraq; or, We’ve been lucky.
The Next Hurrah has a much better idea of why which is that “maybe Bin Laden has already achieved what he sought out to accomplish by attacking the U.S., and has no need for another attack against us.”
The article ends with, “it’s very possible that we’ve fought the war Bin Laden always wanted us to fight, the one that helps the long term goals of Al Qaeda.”
Very interesting.
